Pursuing Wholeness

Take a second.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

You are amazing.  The chain reaction of things it takes within you to do that one small action is mind boggling.  You are a work of art. A Masterpiece.  You were knit together in your mother’s womb by a divine craftsman. He doesn’t make mistakes.

The unfortunate fly in the ointment is however, that we DO make mistakes.  Lots of them actually.  We are imperfect.  We are flawed. We sin…daily.

Each sin leaves us a bit more broken then the last.  Each sin makes us just a bit more desperate for the grace of God in our own lives. In our brokenness we inevitably hurt those around us.  It’s a fact of life.

hurting people hurt people.

We lash out in our own insecurity. We hide behind our own fears.  It’s a vicious cycle.

It’s not hopeless though.  Far from it actually!

When you cut yourself, what is the natural response?  Do you sit there and think “oh no, I’m hurt. I’ll never recover.  This is the end of me.”  I sure hope not!  You probably look at the wound. Wash it off.  Put some medicine on it. Get a band aid (preferably a Hello Kitty one) and you move on.

So why is it that, with issues of hurt in our hearts, we so often feel paralyzed? Instead of seeking healing we bury the hurt, erect walls, build fortresses (hello “Frozen”).  Whatever it takes to hide our hurt.

It’s got to stop.

Your healing matters.

Your wholeness matters.

Don’t shortcut the healing process.  Pursue it!  There’s so much more for you than what you may be settling for.
