Breaking News

I’d like to take this moment to share something truly momentous that I discovered today….

One of my blog heroes (read about it here) the one and only, Pioneer Woman, blogged on the exact same topic as me on Friday… That’s right… we were both hit with incredible inspiration on the topic of “our” new favorite iPhone App, Instagram.

All I have to say is… great minds think alike…

Thank you and good night.

p.s.  This is my excited face

App Love : Instagram

I’ve been an Apple fan since childhood.  My Daddy raised me right.  An apple a day keeps the viruses away.

That being said, I am seriously addicted to my iphone… I carry it everywhere… It’s keeps me organized, entertained, on the right road, up to date…. well you get the picture…

All that to say, I want to share a new App that I’ve discovered* and LOVE!

It’s called Instagram and allows you to put all kinds of fun finishes on the photos you take.

Oh I should mention, most of the photos I post here are taken on the iphone.  Yeah… not the best, but definitely not too shabby for a phone.

Here are a few of my favorite photo finishes… Early Bird, Lomo-fi, Nashville, & 1977

Oh and the best part… it’s a free App… so download and enjoy!

Are you an iphone user? Any Apps that you currently can’t live without?

*I realize that most other people probably “discovered” this App ions ago… but I just love it so much I had to tell you!

Swing!

Can you remember anything more fun than swinging when you were little?

The excitement of being carefree. The breeze in your face.

The belief that if you stretched your toes you could really touch the sky.

The uncontrollable giggles that come as a result of being totally happy!

Is there anything that completely transports you to the carefree days of childhood?

Jon & Julia

Remember that beautiful Baltimore wedding I told you about here?  Well I have exciting news for you.  The couple’s FABULOUS photographer, Katie Stoops has blogged some of their gorgeous photos on her site.  Check it out here.

I’d like to echo everything she said about Jon & Julia.  There are truly a spectacular couple.  So fun and full of love.

I really loved every minute of their day (except for maybe the part where I wiped out on the floor).

It’s Not Over!

God works all things together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purposes(Rom. 8:28).  Whatever you’re going through today is encompassed in the all.  He’s not brought you this far to leave you.  It’s not His nature to abandon.  It’s His nature to champion.  He says that He will never leave you nor forsake you.(Josh 1:5)  His plans are for good.(Jer. 29:11)  He’s not scheming up ways to hurt and disappoint you. NO!  He says His thoughts towards you are for good.  They are more than the grains of sand or the stars in the sky.

The life of Joseph is an incredible example of how God’s plan will succeed.  Joseph was betrayed by those closest to him.  A biblical example of human trafficking, Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers.  The story could have ended there.

He was bought in Egypt.  Gained the confidence of his master.  Ran the whole estate.  Was falsely accused.  His name was slandered.  He was sent to jail.  The story could have ended there.

He spent years in jail.  Served the jailer and gained his trust.  He made friends with two inmates.  He interpreted their dreams.  One promised to remember him when he left the jail.  He forgot.  The story could have ended there.

The King called for an interpretation of his dream.  Someone remembered Joseph.  He was summoned.  He interpreted the dream. He was given a signet ring and the favor of the King.  The story could have ended there.

God gave him a solution and a plan.  The King gave him authority. His brothers came from afar begging for food.  Joseph was confronted with the truth of his abandonment and abuse.  He could have chosen to give justice.  He chose forgiveness and gave grace. Joseph’s strategies saved the nation in a time of famine.

God works all things together for good.  Never doubt that He has a plan.  No matter what you’re facing, this isn’t the last chapter.  He has a plan and He’s not leaving you alone.

Flip Flops in February

I’m going to pretend like I haven’t been MIA for a month and pick up right where we left off… I mean that’s what you do with a good friend right?

That’s how I think of you anyways… my good friend… a wonderful listener… you never cut me off…

I’m getting sidetracked… back to the subject at hand… well actually foot…

Last  month I turned 29.

For the first time…. I promise.

This will be the only time in my life that I can truthfully say that I’m 29.

It may not be the only time in my life that I say I’m 29…

I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to age gracefully… jury is still out.

I love to take the opportunity on birthdays to look back over the past year and think about all that’s happened.  2010 was a good year but it was a rough year in many ways as well.  There were a number of opportunities to lose hope.  A number of opportunities to give up.  There were however more opportunities where God came through.  Times when He surprised me with His goodness.

Being a February baby, born in a northern climate, I have through the years grown acustomed to ice skating, sledding and generally freezing on my birthday.

This year was different.  I woke up on my birthday to 70 degree weather.  Truly incredible for DC in the middle of the winter.  It was a “God wink” for sure and further proof that the best is yet to come.  Looking forward to this 29th year of life (however many times I repeat it)

Have you seen any “God winks” in your life recently?

Did you wear flip flops in February?

How many times have you turned 29?
